The JZ&F 2012 SIHH Report – Panerai
Panerai
As the watch industry is becoming increasingly fascinated with new and exotic materials such as carbon fiber, forged carbon, meteorite, and ceramic, Panerai has also jumped on the bandwagon – the booth exhibits the process of making a ceramic case, and the various steps and half-finished cases along the way.
This year Panerai came out with the new line that features the new shape – the Radiomir 1940, which pays homage to a period when the case evolved from the wire-lugs of the Radiomir to offer more support, but the crown did not yet have the crown-guard seen on the Luminor cases. You can think of it as a transition from Radiomir to Luminor.
